Obituary for John Patrick "Jack" Downey

John Patrick "Jack"  Downey
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late John "Jack" Patrick Downey announces his passing. Jack passed away from the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at the age of 78 years.

Jack is predeceased by his parents – Francis & Margaret Downey; brother – Gerald Downey (Kathleen Connolly); parents-in-law – Lawrence & Mary Philpott; siblings-in-law – Catherine Downey (Cyril), Jim Carrigan, Joseph Pecci, Francis Fitzgerald, William Walsh, Franklin Forsythe, Francis Quinlan, Leslie Traverse & Jay Taylor.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife – Rose Downey, Coachman’s Cove, NL; children – Glenn Downey (Deidre), Fraser lake, BC & Deanna Downey (Gerald Barrett), Fraser Lake, BC; grandchildren – Devon Downey, Dylan Downey, Cohen Barrett, Bella Barret & Sarah Barrett; sisters – Ann Carrigan, Gertrude Pecci, Mary Fitzgerald, Margaret Walsh & Kathleen Philpott (James); siblings-in-law – Bernice Forsythe, Rita Quinlan, Violet Traverse, Faustina Philpott, Florence Taylor, Linda Dube (John), Samuel Philpott (Joyce Jones), Annie Walsh (Ronald), Edward Philpott (Stella Sacrey) & Raymond Philpott (Robert Cohen); as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

Father Camillus Ekedobe conducted the Mass of Christian Burial from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Coachman's Cove, NL on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in Jack's memory to Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre - Hospital Axillary, P.O. Box 157, Baie Verte, NL A0K 1B0 "Daffodil Room".

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
