So sorry too read of Pad Joe's passing. I first met him in the early 1980's when I was involved in community development. His commitment to the betterment of his community was a shining example that others could follow. He touched many lives in a positive manner and will be well remembered.

Pad Joe was my Mom’s first cousin. I’ve known him my whole life and often thought of him as the unofficial mayor of Harbour Round. He was devoted to his family and his town and was, in my teenage years, single handedly responsible for virtually every community improvement project to come to our little town. Firm in his commitments, staunch in his loyalty, and vocal in his opinions, he was a man that I respected, admired, and loved (not that I’d have ever told him that! 😀). I grieve for his family’s loss, for our town’s loss, and for my own loss. If we had icons in that little harbour, he was certainly the greatest of them. I offer my condolences to Jule, Joey, Denise, Naomi, Jimmy, and all his family. While no words can ever diminish your loss, I hope my few brief lines can increase your sense of pride in this incredible and much loved man. We will all miss him.

Sincerest regards,

Calvin Giles
