It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Wilson Stanley Burton announces his passing. Wilson passed away at Carmelite House, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021 at the the age of 85 years.
Wilson Stanley Burton was born on July 8th, 1936 on the Horse Islands to Dorman and Lillian Burton. At the age of five, his dear mother and his 18 month old sister passed away, leaving him and his six year old brother Hayward, to live with their dad. Dorman later married his second wife Flossy, and they then gave Wilson three more brothers and two sisters. This made their family complete.
At a young age, Wilson left school and began working in the lumber woods on the Baie Verte Peninsula. With little education, he quickly learned that hard work was the means of survival. Hard work was what he endured as a miner at Rambler Mines for 16 years. He later became a fisherman on the “Ocean Glider”, working with his brothers until retirement.
On January 31st, 1964, he married the love of his life, Winnie Kippenhuck. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters and one handsome son. Then came their adorable grandchildren; Ashley, Joshua, Hilary, Emilee, Jayden, and most recently, his beautiful great-granddaughter Paisley. All were his pride and joy. His greatest legacy was praying for his family and witnessing to others about his Lord and Saviour.
Wilson is Predeceased by his parents – Dorman and Lillian Burton; step-mother – Flossy Burton; Brother – Hayward Burton; sister – Olive Burton; grandchild – Baby Stephen Hicks.
